1 September 2020 – The UVI for exported commodities shows an annual rate of change of 8,7% in June 2020. From May 2020 to June 2020 the UVI for exported commodities decreased by 1,0%. The main contributors to the annual rate of 8,7% were metal products, machinery and equipment (7,9 percentage points) and ores and minerals (2,3 percentage points). The main contributors to the monthly decrease of 1,0% were metal products, machinery and equipment (-0,7 of a percentage point) and beverages (-0,2 of a percentage point).

Imports: The UVI for imported commodities shows an annual rate of change of -12,3% in June 2020. From May 2020 to June 2020 the UVI for imported commodities decreased by 3,0%. The main contributors to the annual rate of -12,3% were crude petroleum (-10,7 percentage points) and metal products, machinery and equipment (-2,2 percentage points). The main contributors to the monthly decrease of 3,0% were metal products, machinery and equipment (-1,3 percentage points) and food products (-1,1 percentage points). Source (StatsSA)
