Export And Import Unit Value Indices, November 2019

3 February 2020 – Exports: The annual rate of change of the Unit Value Indices (UVI) for exported commodities remained unchanged at -3,2% in November 2019. From October 2019 to November 2019 the UVI for exported commodities decreased by 0,4%. The main contributors to the annual rate of -3,2% were other transportable goods (-2,6 percentage points) and ores and minerals (-1,8 percentage points). The main contributors to the monthly decrease of 0,4% were ores and minerals (-0,4 of a percentage point) and metal products, machinery and equipment (0,2 of a percentage point).

Imports: The annual rate of change of the UVI for imported commodities remained unchanged at -13,2% in November 2019. From October 2019 to November 2019 the UVI for imported commodities decreased by 1,6%. The main contributors to the annual rate of -13,2% were crude petroleum (-5,7 percentage points), other transportable goods (-4,2 percentage points) and metal products, machinery and equipment (-4,0 percentage points). The main contributors to the monthly decrease of 1,6% were other transportable goods (-0,8 of a percentage point) and crude petroleum (-0,6 of a percentage point). Source (StatsSA)
